The Paper Money Museum is part of the Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, inside the building is the headquarters of the Foundation. It is located at Boavista Avenue, opposite to the City Park, it is a building of clean and elegant lines.
The Paper Money Museum was built from scratch, starting in 1994.
The museum is accessed through a wide lobby, where the reception, cloakroom and 217-seat auditorium are also located.

Crossing the lobby and turning right, are the showroom of Paper Money exhibition, the Service Education Room and temporary exhibition halls. At the entrance level is possible to find also a restaurant.
On the same floor as the entrance, across the lobby and to the right is the Paper Money exhibition room, the Education Service Room and two temporary exhibition rooms. |
The lower floor (level -1) houses the grand auditorium and multi-use rooms: an excellent location for congresses, talks, exhibitions and orchestral concerts.
The exhibition room for miniature cars, boats, trains and planes occupies the third and last floor (level -2).
The total area of the building is 4,000 m2, set within 10,000 m2 of gardens.
Care has been taken throughout the building to eliminate physical obstacles. The Museum provides a lift, ramps and disabled toilet facilities.
