MISSION
The mission of the Paper Money Museum is to acquire, conserve, exhibit and disseminate a collection of Portuguese paper currency as a symbol of national heritage and identity. This takes into consideration that the museum is a non-profit-making institution that is open to the community and in which it must play an important educational role, thereby contributing to the development of the knowledge society and to social cohesion.
OBJETIVOS
- To make the Museum an accessible place, even to those with special needs;
- To promote the study and the divulgation of fiat money;
- To make the Museum see itself as an agent of change at both the educational and social level;
- To create educational service programmes, to produce teaching resources and to assess them;
- To invest in the training of the professionals who work at the Museum;
- To promote partnerships that allow the Museum to play its educational and social role;
- To encourage continuous cooperation within a network, promoting financial education;
- To promote the interaction of the Museum with the community of which it is a part, seeking results at the level of the qualification of culture, boosting heritage and innovation in social and cultural practices towards social insertion.
