Booking a visit - Information
Schedules:
- It is of the utmost importance that the visit starts at the allotted time since it is difficult to make up for lost time during the visit. If there is any change in the schedule, please contact the Education Service (E.S.) as soon as possible.
- If you are running more than 5 minutes late on the day of the visit, please inform the E.S. on 226101189.
- In the event of considerable delay, the visit may have to be altered.
Supervision:
- There must always be at least one monitor, with two being the ideal number for groups of more than 15 children/youths.
- Supervision of the children/youths is the entire responsibility of the teacher(s) / monitor(s) and assistants. We expect the group to be prepared before the visit for the basic standards of conduct.
Prior to the visit:
- Choose the activity according to the ages and goals of the group. If in doubt, please contact the Education Service.
- Complete the Visit Form and send it to the Museum’s Education Service. Please await confirmation of the visit. It is not always possible to match the day/time with the E.S. agenda.
- Inform us in advance of anyone in the group with special needs.
- In order to prepare for the visit, please read the suggestions in Preparing the Visit.
- The MPM does not cater for groups of more than 25 people per visit.
Upon arrival:
- Buses must park outside the car park, along the Avenida da Boavista or in the City Park car park.
- Always keep the group with you in a cohesive and orderly manner.
- Go to reception to inform the Education Service of your arrival.
- Make the payment. Don’t forget to bring the details of the Institution / person to whom the invoice should be made out.
- It is forbidden to enter the Museum with jackets, bags, umbrellas, large objects and any kind of food. These must be left in the cloakroom.
- No video or photographic equipment may be taken in without prior authorisation.
During the visit:
- Bear in mind that there are other visitors in the Museum: there should be no shouting or running.
- Taking pictures and recording sound are not allowed inside the Museum.
- Switch off or put in silent mode any mobile phones or other equipment that could disturb the visit.
After the visit:
- Evaluation – The Education Service is greatly concerned with the impact that the visit might have on the life of the students with regard to the acquisition of knowledge, pleasure and development of competencies. We would be extremely grateful if the teacher and students could fill in a questionnaire at the end of their visit with their suggestions and comments.
