The students are invited to explore the Museum and discover the evolution of money, from the beginning of paper money, in China, to the single currency, the Euro. There is particular focus on “a nearly-perfect fraud” – the startling story of a swindler called Artur Virgílio Alves Reis who, from 1925, led politicians, soldiers, rolex replica journalists and the average man in the street to wonder just how such daring could have been possible. For a year, he carried out one of the most famous frauds in the history of Europe, known as the Banknote Case. How did he do it and how did this true story end? |
