The Education Service plays an important role within the Paper Money Museum, especially since key factors in the Museum’s mission and projects are local development, social cohesion and education.
The Museum has always seen itself as a social enterpriser, and since 2008 it has involved various social and educational actors in its programme. It therefore makes sense to say that the aim of the programme is to meet the different needs of the various publics, with access and inclusion being of the utmost importance.
The current programme agenda is dictated by the context of the country’s social, economic and financial change. Teachers and educators will find programmes for all levels of teaching, which are specifically designed to promote students’ financial literacy.
The Paper Money Museum is a pioneer in this area in Portugal. Through guided visits, it aims to change people’s behaviours, attitudes and knowledge in relation to money, since the very first form of exclusion is financial.
